What if School Board Members were as Connected as Teachers?
Each night before going to bed I read teacher blogs. I’m impressed how technology is transforming the classroom, and I can’t help but wonder how long it will take for technology to impact school board members like it has teachers.
What if school board members, like teachers, used Nings, Personal Learning Networks, and other Web 2.0 tools to help us become better at what we do? What would that mean for our school districts? And for education in general?
What impact might web-connected, modestly tech savvy school board members have upon the development of effective 21st century schools; and what role might that play in improving student achievement?
Just a few things I ponder, late at night before going to bed.
Your thoughts?

On that thought.3rd world countries are experiencing a slow shift into the information age.Do you perhaps think introducing this in schhools could perhaps awaken the broader thought process richer schools can provide their students?
It could also create an awreness of the shift of times into the new era of now which has been reffered to as the “art age”Age of creativity using what already has eniched the world today,Skills and resorces.

What an interesting term . . . the art age. I like that. To answer you question, absolutely yes. The more school leaders, especially the decision or policy makers have access to the tools . . . and use them . . . the more it can be appreciated how they might be used in the classroom.

By the way, thanks for asking the great question. Please feel free to ask questions or provide comments any time.

Anything that would help school boards hire better superintendents, make better policy, and help find resources to operate the district would be good.
